Sustainable Development Goals - Useful Resources
/We don’t know too many schools and districts that are teaching about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Sustainable Development Goals are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a "blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all". The SDGs were set up in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly and are intended to be achieved by the year 2030. We were ecstatic to see that there are a great many U.S. schools making sure that young people know what the SDGs are and where they came from, and also how important it is to achieve them within a relatively short timeframe. Here are a few exemplars:
1) A New Tool for Exploring the UN Sustainable Development Goals

UP is for Learning and Shelburne Farms are excited to offer this new tool, “Cultivating Pathways to Sustainability.” This resource will guide your students through a deep dive into the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and opportunities for local action to address them. It includes resources for educators, too. This tool is especially useful in a virtual context or for remote learning, and captures the work of our annual partnership program, Cultivating Pathways to Sustainability.
Join us for the Cultivating Pathways to Sustainability Program with a virtual kick off in fall 2021
2) RCE Contributions to a More Sustainable World
Celebrating Five Years of Innovative Projects on Education for Sustainable Development (2015–2019)

The Regional Centres of Expertise (RCE) on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Network was launched in 2005, the same year the UNESCO Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD) officially began, with the aim to demonstrate that ESD principles can work in practice. The Decade is finished and also its follow-up – the UNESCO Global Action Programme (GAP) on ESD – which has now been replaced by the Education 2030 Agenda. The RCE founding principles remain and the network continues to grow, while the Global RCE Service Centre remains to initiate discussions at local, regional and global levels, bringing new perspectives on ESD: its goals, learning processes and quality in general.

#TeachSDGs, a global network of K-12 educators committed to advancing and integrating the SDGs in their schools. If you follow @TeachSDGs on Twitter, you'll see extensive examples of K-12 projects, and their Ambassadors are ready to help connect with you as well. Each year, teachers can also collaborate through The Goals Project. This webpage provides examples of SDGs school projects.
